Through an ongoing Municipal Comprehensive Review process, the Town of Halton Hills is anticipated to receive population and employment targets in excess of the existing 2041 targets of 94,000 residents and 43,000 jobs. The majority of this growth will be directed to a small number of Strategic Growth Areas within Georgetown - including the Secondary Plan Area.
Through the Secondary Plan Review, policies will be established to ensure the creation of a walkable, vibrant, and complete community. Opportunities for infill development will be distributed, and major intensification will be concentrated in strategic locations. A range and mix of uses will be provided. Natural, architectural, and cultural heritage resources will be maintained, respected, and enhanced. Pedestrian and active transportation connections will be improved, fostering safety and comfort while reducing vehicle congestion. Collectively, these elements will produce a welcoming and high-quality public realm, which will positively impact Georgetown’s quality of life and its unique sense of place.
